If you haven’t had your chimney swept in the last 12 months, you risk not only a chimney fire, but your fire could be less efficient. It is also worth noting that you could invalidate your home insurance if you needed to claim for smoke damage or fire damage resulting from a chimney fire. All insurance companies would expect to see proof that your chimney is swept annually as a bare minimum and that it is swept by a competent, qualified person.
