I received the following book for Christmas and really enjoyed it, Norwegian Wood Chopping, Stacking and Drying Wood the Scandinavian Way, by Lars Mytting.

Although it is based on Norwegian and Scandinavian principles they can be applied to wood we process and sack four our winter fuel here in the UK. I enjoyed reading about ‘Ottar’ an ancient member of the community who would appear from his house in the Spring when his wood was delivered. He would then proceed to split it over the next few months and then disappear for Winter again!
